Haunted Trails
Ahhhh!!!
We are going to Haunted Trails in Balboa Park to celebrate Halloween. Get your vocal cords ready to scream, there will be scary monsters around every corner.
We will pick up dinner on the way, and take the Fusion van.

Whaley House Ghost Tour
We will learn about Thomas Whaley, a native New Yorker who built the first brick house in Southern California, who supposedly haunts the house to this day. Whaley’s wife, Anna De Lannay Whaley is said to roam the halls as well. Yankee Jim Robinson, declared to be the spookiest ghost by employees at the Whaley House, lurks at night disputing over his boat. A dog too, and much more!
Dress comfortably and learn more about Old Town, San Diego with out resident historian, Ed Purcell!

What is Minute to Win It?
Minute to Win It is a wildly popular game show concept adapted into an electrifying event. Participants are tasked with completing fun and quirky challenges within 60 seconds. These challenges call for agility, precision, and quick thinking - pushing contestants to the limit as they race against the clock!

Prepare yourself for an assortment of incredible challenges designed to test your skill, concentration, and nerves of steel. Picture stacking cups at lightning speed, or balancing cookies on your face. These are just a glimpse of the pulse-pounding tasks awaiting our participants!

Details of Event: On Friday, May 5th, High Schoolers will experience the hallmark of high school tradition, Prom. To end the school year they will be hanging out, dancing, and enjoying the last of their high school era with their closest friends. Food will be provided :)

Student Event: Beyond King Tut
Details of Event: Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience is produced in partnership with the National Geographic Society. Commemorating the historic discovery of King Tut’s tomb 100 years ago, the exhibition combines the power of cinematic storytelling and soaring imagery to bring the National Geographic archives to life.

Student Event: Mindful Scavenger Hunt Park Day (Feb. 3rd)
On Friday, Feb. 3rd, we are having a day of mindful play at San Dieguito Park.
We'll be having a scavenger hunt designed to focus on the present, we'll have healthy snacks, and we'll explore some mindful movement practices (hula hoops, poi, fans, frisbee).
We'll provide some light food, such as fruit, nuts, and drinks. Students are encouraged to bring their own snacks, too!

White Elephant HC Gift Exchange!
On Tuesday, December 13th, the Homework Café is hosting our second annual White Elephant Staff & Student Gift Exchange! Last year, it was a huge hit with a ton of laughs, good tidings, and cheery vibes.
Everyone’s welcome to participate - all students need to do is bring a wrapped gift valued at around $10-$15 to school that day. We’re doing the gift exchange in the HC during lunch, and - being White Elephant - it’ll be a fun and social way to spend part of the lunch hour.
If you have any questions, or if your student wants to participate but can’t bring a gift, just reach out to Mike McFarland. He’ll have a few extra wrapped gifts around to make sure anyone who wants to join is able!
Student Event: Maritime Museum of San Diego
On Friday, Dec. 9th, we're heading to the Maritime Museum of San Diego.
The Maritime Museum of San Diego, established in 1948, preserves one of the largest collections of historic sea vessels in the United States. Located on the San Diego Bay, the centerpiece of the museum's collection is the Star of India, an 1863 iron bark.
We'll tour each of the vessels on exhibit, and finish up the day with ice cream on the wharf.
